Stained glass windows are made in the same way today as they were 1000 years ago. Visit the Stained Glass Centre and you will be able to appreciate the skills of the artists and craftsmen who transform coloured glass and lead into windows of beauty. In 1884 William Lazenby opened his stained glass works in Bradford. His skills were passed on to his sons and his grandsons and today his great granddaughter, Valerie Green, carries on the family tradition at the Stained Glass Centre in the countryside between Scarborough and Filey. The Exhibition of Stained Glass in the Studio charts the history of the art and craft from mediaeval times to the present day. The stages in making a stained glass window are explained and visitors can watch lampshades and windows being made. To round off the visit we have a Garden Tea Room for visitors to enjoy light refreshments. The Stained Glass Centre is open daily: 10.00am - 5.00pm Group Bookings by appointment. At the Stained Glass Centre, Valerie Green and her dedicated staff maintain a tradition that has existed for over a 1000 years. And the production methods are the same today as they were then. If you visit the exhibition centre you can learn about the History of Stained Glass or browse for an exclusive feature for your own home.
